As China woos Bhutan, Delhi & Thimphu pledge to boost ties
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck to reaffirm India's commitment to their friendship and cooperation. The two countries announced measures to expand trade and connectivity, including a proposed cross-border rail link and an immigration check-post for third country nationals. India also agreed to provide financing for Bhutan's projects and schemes, and increase scholarships for Bhutanese students studying in India.
