Madhya Pradesh election results: How BJP's 'Ladli Behna' scheme trumped Congress's proposed guarantees

The BJP is set to sweep Madhya Pradesh with over 150 seats, while the Congress is far behind with leads in around 65 seats. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign and the 'Ladli Behna Yojana' welfare scheme for the BJP's victory. The scheme, launched on March 5, 2023, provides Rs 1,250 per month to eligible women from poor families. The Congress pushed its campaign in the state around the promised 11 guarantees. However, with the BJP already giving the people benefit of social schemes , there were few takers for Cong guarantees.
