Every two hours a girl was sexually abused in Tamil Nadu in 2022

According to the NCRB data, Tamil Nadu witnessed a significant increase in crimes against women and children in 2022. The state reported 9,207 cases of crimes against women, an increase from 8,501 cases in 2021. Additionally, there were 4,906 cases registered under the Pocso Act. Tamil Nadu ranked third in the country for Pocso cases, behind Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In Chennai alone, there were 736 cases of crimes against women, children, and senior citizens in 2022. The Chennai police have been actively monitoring and mapping heinous crimes, updating figures daily.
