Doctors at KIMS hospital in Hyderabad learned sign language to communicate with a deaf-mute couple, Marri Bhagyamma and Marri Raj Kumar, whose premature twins were admitted to the neonatal ward. Despite initial communication glitches, the doctors understood that this was the couple's last chance for parenthood. The father taught the medical team sign language so they could directly communicate with the parents. The baby was discharged recently, weighing 1.8 kg, with no birth anomalies, and the parents expressed confidence in their ability to care for their daughter.
