New IT rules in 7-8 days: Govt amid growing concerns over deepfakes

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 16 January 2024
Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar announced that the Centre will soon notify the new IT rules to address concerns over AI-deepfakes. Chandrasekhar emphasized the government's responsibility to ensure a safe online experience for every Indian and acknowledged the challenges and risks associated with innovation. Last year, in December, the Centre had issued an advisory to all social media platforms, to comply with the existing IT rules. The advisory had mandated that intermediaries (digital and social media platforms) communicate prohibited content specified under IT Rules.

Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, is abuzz with anticipation as it braces for an extraordinary electoral showdown between the incumbent Member of Parliament, Shashi Tharoor from the Indian National Congress, and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's contender, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who also holds a ministerial portfolio in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet. In a recent statement, Chandrasekhar expressed his willingness to engage in a debate with Tharoor on the subject of development in Thiruvananthapuram, a Lok Sabha constituency that encompasses much of the Kerala capital. Tharoor wasted no time in accepting the challenge, emphasising that the voters in the constituency are well aware of who has been avoiding such discussions. The political atmosphere is charged with anticipation as the stage is set for a clash of ideas and visions for the progress of Thiruvananthapuram. #ShashiTharoor #RajeevChandrasekhar #ShashiTharoorVSRajeevChandrasekhar #ShashiTharoorRajeevChandrasekharDebate #LSPolls2024 #LokSabhaElections #ThiruvananthapuramSeat #Elections2024 ~PR.152~ED.103~

LS Polls 2024: Rajeev Chandrasekhar to contest from Thiruvananthapuram| Political journey| Oneindia

Among the 34 Union Ministers whose names featured in BJP’s first list of 195 candidates released last weekend was Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who has been fielded from Thiruvananthapuram, a seat in Kerala considered Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s stronghold. While Congress has yet to announce its candidate from the constituency, if they choose to field Tharoor again, it will be one of the high-profile contests in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024. Fielding Chandrasekhar is part of BJP’s aim to make inroads in Kerala, where it had failed to win any seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In one of his recent visits to Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the goal of achieving a two-digit figure in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 polls. #RajeevChandrasekhar #Thiruvananthapuram #LokSabhaElections #KnowYourMP #ThiruvananthapuramMPRajeevChandrasekhar #CongressMPRajeevChandrasekhar #IndianPolitics #Congress #PoliticalCareer #Leadership #ElectionCampaign #ThiruvananthapuramConstituency #PoliticalJourney #ElectoralStrategy #CongressLeader #RajeevChandrasekharInThiruvananthapuram #PoliticalMilestones #IndianDemocracy #ElectionDecision #CongressParty #VoteForRahul #PoliticalLegacy #CampaignTrail ~PR.152~ED.103~GR.124~HT.96~
