Here's why this Hampi temple banned bananas

The centuries-old Virupaksha temple in Hampi has prohibited bananas on its premises to maintain cleanliness and protect its temple elephant, Laxmi. The decision follows complaints of visitors littering and force-feeding bananas to the elephant. Temple authorities request cooperation from the daily 5,000 visitors to respect the cleanliness of this sacred site.
