Collegium picks Calcutta HC judge for SC post

The Supreme Court collegium recommended Justice Joymalya Bagchi of Calcutta HC for appointment to the SC, filling one of the two vacancies. If approved, he will join Justice Dipankar Datta from Calcutta HC. The collegium also recommended Justice Harish Tandon as Orissa HC Chief Justice. Justice Bagchi previously handled significant cases and argued against the ban on Taslima Nasreen's book.
