Delhi's air pollution is more severe than estimated due to the undercounting of PM1 pollutants by up to 20%, exacerbated by hygroscopic growth. This underestimation is most severe during winter mornings, making pollution deadlier than thought. High chloride levels from biomass burning and residential emissions contribute significantly, indicating that controlling these emissions could improve air quality.
