Not disclosing criminal case 'moral turpitude': High court

A political storm erupted in Madhya Pradesh after Minister Vijay Shah made a controversial remark about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who led Operation Sindoor following the India-Pakistan ceasefire. Shah’s comment—“We sent a sister of their own to teach them a lesson”—sparked backlash across party lines. Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge slammed it as “shameful and vulgar.” An FIR was ordered by the Jabalpur High Court, and BJP’s Hitanand Sharma reportedly reprimanded Shah. Amid growing criticism, Shah apologized and called Colonel Qureshi “a pride of the nation.”
