Wednesday, 7 May 2025 () The daily Beating Retreat ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border has been suspended, according to reports. Citing security concerns following the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir and Operation Sindoor, BSF officials announced the halt to the elaborate display. A BSF officer stated that the decision was made due to decreased visitor numbers and heightened security risks.
BSF Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw has returned to India after spending 21 days in Pakistan's custody. Shaw was handed over at the Joint Check Post in Attari, Amritsar, just days after India’s successful Operation Sindoor Heat and mounting diplomatic pressure on Islamabad. Shaw had accidentally crossed the international border on April 23 while on duty guarding farmers in Punjab, armed and in uniform.
