Saturday, 31 May 2025 Sharmishtha Panoli, an Instagram influencer, has been remanded to judicial custody until June 13 after being arrested by Kolkata Police for allegedly making communal remarks in a social media video criticizing Bollywood's silence on Operation Sindoor. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has criticized the arrest as appeasement politics, alleging selective action against Sanatanis while ignoring similar offenses by TMC leaders.
