Census to pave way for nationwide delimitation

IndiaTimes Thursday, 5 June 2025
India's 'Census 2027', starting April 1, 2026, will enable nationwide delimitation of constituencies, being the first census post-2026. However, completing delimitation before the 2029 election seems unlikely due to potential delays in publishing final population data. The home ministry cited Covid-related disruptions to primary education as the reason for postponing the census, originally due five years ago.
