Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad, resulting in 270 fatalities, is expected to trigger substantial insurance claims around Rs 1,500 crore. The insurance cover for the plane was recently enhanced to Rs 850 crore. Indian insurers will bear a small portion of the payout, with global reinsurers covering the majority of the risk.
