Worrying trend: Man falls off moving train, loses leg in 'phatka gang' phone snatching attack in Kalyan; looted by 16-year-old as he lays in pain
Monday, 4 August 2025 A 22-year-old farmer, Gaurav Nikam, suffered a partial leg amputation after a 'Phatka gang' attack near Kalyan while traveling on the Tapovan Express. A minor struck Nikam, causing him to fall from the train, and then robbed him of his phone and cash. Kalyan GRP apprehended the 16-year-old accused from Irani Pada, a known crime hotspot.
