Ram Patel, an Indian immigrant, has been sentenced to 20 months in US prison for orchestrating fake armed robberies across multiple states. Patel and his accomplice, Balwinder Singh, staged robberies at stores, enabling clerks to fraudulently apply for U-visas. Patel, who made $850,000 from the scam, will be deported to India after serving his sentence.
