Aadhaar can't be standalone proof of citizenship, says SC

The Supreme Court has declined to direct the Election Commission to accept Aadhaar as sole proof of citizenship for Bihar voter list enrollment, emphasizing its legal limitations. Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi reiterated that Aadhaar remains an identity document, not a citizenship proof, aligning with the Aadhaar Act and the Puttaswamy judgment.
