Fresh clashes as Bangladesh garment workers protest low wage

Thousands of garment workers in Bangladesh clashed with police as they protested for fair wages for the clothing they produce for Western brands. The protests, which resulted in the deaths of two people, took place in Ashulia and Gazipur, home to many factories that produce clothing for brands like H&M and Gap. The workers are demanding higher wages to cover rising food expenses, as the cost of basic foodstuffs and house rents have increased significantly.
