With 89 staffers dead, Gaza war turns out to be deadliest for UN
Tuesday, 7 November 2023 The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, announced on Monday that during the month-long conflict between Israel and Hamas, 89 UNRWA employees who were providing aid to Palestinian refugees in Gaza were killed. Guterres stated that this is the highest number of casualties ever recorded among UNRWA staff during a similar period. He further added that many of these workers lost their lives along with their family members.
Numerous premature infants have reportedly been found dead in Gaza’s Al Nasr Children’s Hospital weeks after their families and the hospital staff were forcibly evacuated by Israeli soldiers.
