US state department ex-official held for harassing halal food vendor in New York
Friday, 24 November 2023 Former US state department official, Stuart Seldowitz, was arrested in New York for making anti-Islamic statements towards an Egyptian halal street vendor. The video of their argument went viral, with Seldowitz expressing support for the killing of Palestinian children and calling the vendor a terrorist. Seldowitz claimed that he became upset after the vendor supported Hamas attacks. Seldowitz had previously worked in the Obama administration and at the state department. The incident drew condemnation from the US state department for its racist and discriminatory language.
