Joe Biden to invoke Cold War-era law to boost medical supplies

President Joe Biden will use the Cold War-era Defense Production Act to boost investment in U.S. manufacturing of essential medicines and medical supplies. The Department of Health and Human Services will be authorized to enable these investments. The areas of investment also include medical countermeasures for chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear attacks. Biden is addressing concerns about the U.S. economy and holding a meeting of the White House Council on Supply Chain Resilience.
