Hikers evacuated as Indonesia volcano spews ash tower

Mount Marapi, an active volcano in western Indonesia, erupted on Sunday, spewing a three-kilometer column of ash into the sky. Dozens of hikers were evacuated from the area. The volcano, with a peak of 2,891 meters, is on the third-highest alert level in Indonesia. Authorities have imposed an exclusion zone around the crater. While there are no immediate reports of damage or casualties, 42 hikers are currently unaccounted for. Efforts are underway to ensure their safety and evacuation of others.
