Alarming surge in serious juvenile crimes grips Minneapolis–Saint Paul

Despite an overall decrease in juvenile cases, young people in the Twin Cities are engaging in a growing number of severe crimes, including auto thefts, gun possession, assault, robbery, and homicides involving juveniles. Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt expressed deep concern, stating that the nature of these crimes goes beyond petty theft. Local leaders are addressing this trend through a panel that aims to enhance how state and county agencies assist young individuals charged with crimes.
