Israel has decreased the amount of captives it is requesting Hamas to release in the initial stage of a potential new ceasefire agreement in Gaza, as reported by three Israeli officials. This development provides a glimmer of optimism for the resumption of peace talks, which may commence as early as Tuesday. For several months, Israel had requested Hamas to free a minimum of 40 hostages.
