Finnish zoo returning pandas to China eight years early, calling them ‘too costly to keep’

Facing financial challenges and a drop in visitors, Ähtäri Zoo in Finland plans to return two giant pandas to China eight years early. Loaned in 2018 for a 15-year term, the pandas Lumi and Pyry will be sent back later this year due to high upkeep costs.
