Record fall in Japanese nationals as population declines

The number of Japanese nationals living in the country saw a record year-on-year fall of 898,000 people to 120.3 million as of October 2024, official data showed Monday. It was the largest fall on record for Japanese nationals since the government began collecting comparable data in 1950, according to the internal affairs ministry.
