Exit polls show Modi is expected to sweep election

According to Reutuers, most exit polls predict Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling alliance is likely to win a big majority in parliament.

Early in his campaign Modi faced criticism for failing to create jobs and for weak farm prices, but he managed to rally his Hindu nationalist base.

By rallying this support, Modi made his campaign's main focus national security after tensions rose with Pakistan.
