Police arrested a 33-year-old man in Berala, New South Wales, on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 22, while they were investigating a number of “public place shootings” in Sydney’s west.

Police said they were looking into the shootings, which they believed were linked, when they seized multiple rounds of ammunition and an extendable baton at a property in Berala.

The man was arrested and taken to Auburn station, where he was charged with the possession of a prohibited weapon.

Two reports of drive-by shootings in Regents Park and Ryde were made on May 21 and May 22.
