Indian police punished lockdown violators

INDIA - India has just started a three-week nationwide lockdown, but many residents don't comply, so the police resorted to physical punishment for the violators.

Baton-wielding police officers have been filmed beating motorcyclists and pedestrians for breaching lockdown rules.

Other officers opted for exercise, ordering violators to do squats or push-ups.

India has far less per capita hospital beds than many other countries already overwhelmed by the coronavirus disease COVID-19.
