Kind-hearted Filipino man feeds dozens of stray cats every day during COVID-19 lockdown

A kind-hearted resident every day feeds dozens of stray cats that are going hungry because of the coronavirus lockdown.

Robi Carillo, 26, takes a bag of cat food and water out every day to the felines that roam the streets in Mandaluyong City in Metro Manila, the Philippines.

The creatures would normally have plenty of scraps from street vendors and other locals but while the city is under lockdown, they are struggling to find food.

Robi said he has ''fallen in love'' with the creatures and ensures feeding them is part of his ''everyday routine." The self-confessed ''cat lover'' said: ''There are plenty of cats here and they are all waiting for me every day.

Some of them are pregnant.'' ''This area is not safe for them.... how I wish I could bring them home with me.

I'm dreaming of making a shelter for them where people can foster them.'' Robi feeds a group of strays in one area near his office then moves to another part of the city to feed more.

He added: ''I have eight cats at home and most of them are rescued from the so I know exactly what it's like for the stray cats, with nobody feeding them.

''I'm so blessed to be one of the people helping them despite the situation we are facing.

"I will never be tired of doing this because I feel that the cats are waiting for me everyday even though it is dangerous to go outside.

Someone needs to take care of them so that they don't go hungry.'' The Philippines has implemented strict lockdown measures to delay the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.

Travel bans are in place around the country preventing people from moving to different areas and residents are under curfews to keep them inside.
