Leaders of the Muslim community in South Africa search the skies for the moon in order to start the holy month of Ramadan on Friday.

Coronavirus lockdown measures mean many Muslims will use online tools as they break their daily fast.

Interviewed here are Moulana Abdul Khaliq Ebrahim Allie of the Muslim Judicial Council and Imam Yusuf Panday.

The holy month will begin on Saturday in South Africa.
