People in Mexico City took to their balconies and threw rice, lentils, and canned goods out of their windows to help fellow residents in need.

It's all part of a donation campaign literally called "Throw an Item out of the Window" that launched recently to support Mexicans affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Volunteer Raul Guerra said the goal is to get necessary items into the hands of people who can use them while maintaining social distancing and capitalizing on the phenomenon of people using their balconies during quarantine.

This load of donations is being distributed among women who need them.

The campaign seeks only food and personal hygiene items, not monetary donations.

Wanted donations include rice, beans, lentils, soup, tuna, milk, canned goods, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and body cream.
