While speaking to media in Maharashtra's Pune via video conferencing on June 17, the former Indian Ambassador to China, Gautam Bambawale commented on India-China violent face-off in Galwan Valley on June 16.

He said, "It is a very serious situation as for first time in 35-40 years there have been deaths of troops on both sides." "India will have to make reappraisal of its policy towards China and we will have to implement a recalibrated policy, foreign policy and defence policy, towards China," Former Indian Ambassador to China added.
