Covid-19 | 'We should focus on reducing death rate': IMA Secretary General

Indian Medical Association (IMA) Secretary General RV Asokan reacted on country's single-day spike of over 80,000 cases.

Asokan said that instead of focusing on the number of cases, the country should focus on reducing death rate.

"There has been a single-day spike of over 80,000 cases.

IMA feels that the country is nearing the peak.

We may reach the first place in the world in a couple of weeks.

But we also have to look at the brighter side of it.

The case fatality rate in the country is falling.

Instead of number of cases, we should focus on reducing deaths," he said.

India has recorded more than 83,300 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
