Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order informed that a bounty of Rs one lakh has been announced on the prime accused of Hathras shooting case Gaurav Sharma. "Two more have been arrested today. The main accused, Gaurav Sharma, is still absconding. A bounty of Rs 1 lakh has been announced. If local administration wants, it can initiate National Security Act (NSA) proceedings against them," ADG Kumar. Amrish Sharma was shot dead by man accused Gaurav Sharma and his accomplices. Deceased had filed case against Gaurav in 2018 for allegedly molesting his daughter.
The AAP on Wednesday won four of the five civic wards in Delhi in a bypoll, with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asserting that people were desperate to bring the party to power in the three municipal corporations in the national capital. The AAP, however, suffered a shock defeat in the minority-dominated Chauhan Bangar ward, where Chaudhary Zubair Ahmad of the Congress defeated the party's candidate Mohammad Ishraq Khan by a whopping margin of 10,642 votes. "The results are an indication of what kind of outcome is expected next year in the civic body polls. We are waiting for it and will make the city neat and clean," Delhi CM Kejriwal said in an address at the AAP office on DDU Marg, where he reached to celebrate the victory with party workers. After Aam Aadmi Party wins 4 of 5 seats in Delhi Civic bypolls, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that people are happy with AAP's 6-year work and upset with BJP's 15-year work in MCD. "It shows that people are happy with AAP's work. In 2015 we won 67/70 seats, in 2020 we won 62/70 seats and now in MCD by-polls, by giving us 4/5 seats, people want us to continue. While BJP's 0 seats show they're upset with them," said CM Kejriwal while addressing AAP workers at party office.
While speaking to media in Chennai on March 08, General Secretary of CPI (M) in Tamil Nadu state, Balakrishnan spoke on seat sharing ahead of the assembly polls in Tamil Nadu. Balakrishnan said, "CPI (M) has forged an alliance with DMK and has been allocated six seats for the Assembly elections. We will work on all the 234 seats to defeat the AIADMK-BJP alliance."

An Uzbekistan Army contingent arrived in New Delhi on March 08. The contingent reached India for Indo-Uzbek Joint Exercise Dustlik-ll. On International Women's Day, women from Punjab reached Tikri on Delhi-Haryana border on to join the ongoing farmers' protest. A protestor said, "We urge the Central Government to roll back the three black laws." Farmers have been protesting on the different borders of the national capital since November 26 against the three newly enacted farm laws - Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, during 'Fit India Walkathon' in Delhi on March 08, urged countrymen to not believe in rumours and assured that the Olympics are on track and dates are finalised. "The process and protocols are to be decided otherwise the dates are finalised," added Rijiju. The games were scheduled to go-ahead last year in Tokyo, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Delhi Police arrested a Mewat-based criminal named Shahid Rafiq on February 04 after a brief exchange of fire near Kalindi Kunj. Rafiq was taken to Safdarjung Hospital after he received a leg injury in the exchange of fire. The Delhi Police said that 35-year-old is history-sheeter and was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 from UP Police for any information leading up to his arrest. Following Rafiq's arrest, a semi-automatic pistol with 6 cartridges was recovered from him. Rafiq was apprehended on intel of Special Cell that he was planning a criminal activity in the Sarita Vihar area yesterday. As a result, a trap was laid and he was arrested near the Kalindi Kunj. According to the Delhi Police, he was involved in 10 criminal cases in Delhi alone. Aside from this, he was involved in more than 40 criminal cases including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery, criminal intimidation, theft, etc in at least 8 states. Rafiq is also wanted in many cases of robberies and ATMs breaking in many states.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said Delhi is prepared to begin its vaccination drive from January 16. After reviewing the preparedness, Kejriwal said initially vaccination will be carried out on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of every week. On January 16, the drive will be carried out at 81 centres, which will gradually be increased to 175 and then to 1,000 across the city. Vaccines that arrived in the Capital in the past few days are being stored at Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital. A three-layer security cover has been put in place to keep an eye on vaccine storage. Vaccination drive in the national capital will be kicked off from the LNJP Hospital with a simple ceremony in the presence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and health minister Satyendar Jain. Other vaccination centres in Delhi include the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Safdarjung Hospital, GTB Hospital, Apollo Hospitals, Max Hospital, etc.
