And found out when students are expected back in the classroom.

Std."

Yes im here outside of the amory school district administration office where i just spoke with the the superintendent, and he tells me high school students moving 100 percent virtually for the next few days is not due to an outbreak in coronavirus cases.

"this is just a management precaution is all it is."

Amory superintendent ken byars says there are a small number of positive cases within the high school.

He says school administration decided to move students to virtual classes temporarily while the school is disinfected.

"we have a mixture of student cases, and employee cases, and on top of that other employees that have had to be quarantined due to their spouse or someone in their home."

Byars says by going virtual until next thursday he is hoping to keep the positive case count low.

He says some classes will be done through live instruction for students with internet access.

However byars says students that do not have internet access at home can download assignments before leaving school today.

"it's not live instruction, recorded instruction, and assignments that are on google classroom."

He says extracurricular activities will continue as normal.

"we do not have an outbreak situation.

We don't have positive cases on our athletic teams right now."

Byars also says no other schools in the district are affected at this time.

However he warns parents to be flexible in case that changes.
