Among our counties in the wabash valley, daviess county has one of the highest covid-19 positivey rates.

Currently the county is sitting at 10 point 5 percent.

Health officials in the county are now concerned what the future holds.

News 10 bureau chief gary brian tells us what health officials are doing to fight the virus.

Gar} "daviess county is sitting just under 1000 positive cases of covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

As cases continue to rise health officials are pleading with residents to take the virus seriously."

Currently the county sits at 941 cases of the virus since the pandemic began.

There have been two new deaths in the community in the last 2 days.

36 people in total have died in daviess county due to covid-19.

Health officals say the virus is spreading in the community.

They credit area schools with keeping the virus at bay.

However businesses aren't doing as well.

The health department says many are relaxing their guidelines for social distancing and mask wearing.

This has resulted in an increase in community spread.

"everybody's tired, i'm tired, we're all tired of the masking.

We're all tired of the rules.

But covid is still very very very strong in our community.

Our numbers are still staying up and unfortunately we're having more deaths.

So we just need to get a handle on it and stay vigilant."
