India on January 08 reported 18,139 new COVID-19 infections, taking the country's count to over 1.04 crores.

The total number of COVID-19 cases now stands at 1,04,13,417, including 2,25,449 active cases.

With 20,539 discharges in last 24 hours, total number of people discharged reached 1,00,37,398.

Death toll of the country stood at 1,50,570 after 234 people lost their lives in the battle against virus in the same period.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of samples tested up to January 07 is 17,93,36,364 including 9,35, 369 samples tested on Jan 07.
