Appeal against Lockerbie bomber’s conviction fails
The son of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi has lost an appeal againsthis late father’s conviction.
The bombing of Pan Am flight 103, travellingfrom London to New York on December 21 1988, killed 270 people in Britain’slargest terrorist atrocity.
Former Libyan intelligence officer Megrahi wasfound guilty in 2001 of mass murder and jailed for life with a minimum term of27 years – the only person convicted of the attack.
A third appeal against hisconviction was heard in November at the High Court in Edinburgh, before apanel of five judges sitting as the Court of Appeal.
'Suits' star Patrick J. Adams' next TV project has been revealed. The actor has been cast in the upcoming six-episode series 'Lockerbie,' about the December 1988 terrorist attack on Pan Am Flight 103 for the BBC and Netflix. The show's cast also includes Connor Swindells, Merritt Wever and Eddie Marsan, among others. The series described as a "factual drama" has begun filming in Scotland.

Harvey Weinstein’s Rape Conviction , Is Overturned.
New York's Court of Appeals
overturned the movie mogul's 2020 rape conviction by a vote of 4-3 on April 25.
According to the appeals court, trial judge James Burke "prejudiced Weinstein with 'egregious' improper rulings," AP reports. .
For example, he let women bring forth allegations against Weinstein that he wasn't charged with.
The action was an "abuse of judicial discretion," the appeals court said. .

Although this conviction has been overturned, the 72-year-old will remain in prison due to a separate 2022 rape conviction in Los Angeles.
His lawyers have chosen to
appeal that conviction as well. .

On April 25, prosecutors said that "the legal issues identified by the New York Court of Appeal are
not present in the Los Angeles County Case.".
The Manhattan district attorney's office
said they will "do everything in our power to
retry this case, and remain steadfast in our commitment to survivors of sexual assault."
