Digital giants Google and Facebook are closing in on deals with the Australian government that could see Australia become the first country in the world where big tech companies finance journalism.
The Labour leader hailed the win by his party’s candidate David Skaith in the York and North Yorkshire mayoral election, an area he described as “the heart of Tory territory”.
