BJP’s Kerala Chief K surendran has said that the party will bring ‘Love Jihad’ legislation if they are elected to power in the state. He further alleged that the ISIS is targeting Hindu and Christian girls in Kerala. ‘ISIS is targeting Hindu-Christian girls especially students. Why are they sending couples to Syria if there is no love jihad? Surendran said. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan cleared that there is no shortage of COVID-19 vaccine in the country. He said, "Issue is about better planning and not the shortage of doses". "Till now we've provided 13,10,90,000 doses to states and union territories. On one hand, we have states like Kerala where there is zero wastage (of vaccine) and on the other hand, we have several other states where there still is 8-9% of wastage. As per data till 11 am today, unutilised doses available with states/UTs is over 1,67,20,000. This month - till April end - 2,01,22,960 doses will be provided to states/UTs. This clearly shows that issue is about better planning and not the shortage of doses," he added.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a pot shot at BJP by saying that wherever the party and its ideologue RSS go, hatred starts to intensify there. He said, "People of Assam say their history and culture are being attacked. Tamil Nadu and Bengal are facing the same thing." The fifth phase of assembly polls will be held in West Bengal on April 17.
After tweeting 'Metroman' E Sreedharan, who recently joined the BJP, will be its chief ministerial candidate for the Kerala assembly elections on April 6, Union Minister V Muraleedharan clarified on Thursday that the party has not made any such announcement. Muraleedharan, who tweeted in this regard earlier, clarified, saying he wanted to inform that through media reports he learnt that the party has announced Sreedharan as the chief ministerial candidate. But when he cross-checked with Kerala party president K Surendran, he said he has not made any such announcements, Muraleedharan, who is also a former BJP state president, said. The development comes on a day the 88-year-old technocrat announced his decision to end his 24-year long career with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to enter electoral politics.

He visited Palarivattom flyover in Kerala's Kochi on March 04 which is being reconstructed now. While speaking to media in Kochi, Sreedharan said, "I will not be working like a normal politician I will be still working like a technocrat." E Sreedharan formally joined BJP in Kerala's Malappuram on February 25. He joined BJP in a public meeting at Changaramkulam town in Ponnani taluk of Malappuram district. To lead naval exercise 'La Perouse' with Quad members' Navies, French Navy's Tonnerre and Surcouf frigate arrived in Kochi. The ships were welcomed by Indian Navy staff with great pomp and show. Two ships will lead the navies' joint exercise 'La Perouse'. The exercise is scheduled to be held from April 05 to April 07 in Bay of Bengal. A man and a woman were found shot dead in a car in Bania Khera area of Lucknow Cantt at around 9 pm on April 12. "Prima facie, it seems the man shot the woman dead before shooting himself," said Additional DCP (East) Qasim Abidi.
An ambulance caught fire outside a welding shop at Kineshwar Chauraha in Lucknow city on April 12. The ambulance was at the welding shop for repair. Oxygen cylinder blasted at the welding shop leading to the ambulance catching fire. Fire Tenders and Police reached the spot, and flames were brought in control. There are reports of few people sustaining injuries. More details are awaited.
In a shocking incident, COVAXIN doses allegedly went missing from cold storage of Jaipur's Hari Bux Kanwatia Government hospital. Total of 320 doses are absent from the place they were stored, police said citing complaint from the hospital. "We received report from the hospital that 320 doses of COVAXIN are missing from there. We have registered an FIR with charges of theft. Investigation is underway, CCTV footage will be checked. Action will be taken if any hospital staff is found involved," the official said.

Police said that a total of 320 doses went missing from the place they were stored. “We received a report from the hospital that 320 doses of Covaxin are missing. Following the complaint, we registered an FIR with charges of theft. Probe is on, CCTV footage will be checked & action will be taken accordingly,” a police official said. The incident comes amid reports of alleged vaccine shortage across many states.
