Telugu New Year 'Ugadi' is being celebrated today. MoS Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy celebrated the festival at BJP Telangana state office. BJP workers also participated in the ceremony. According to the Hindu calendar, Gudi Padwa and Ugadi are celebrated on the first day of the year.

On the second day of Ramzan month, people visited Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad on April 15 to offer early morning prayers. Speaking to ANI, Haafiz Mohammad Haneef, the Muezzin of Mecca Masjid, said that there are regular announcements through loud speakers for the people coming to the mosque to offer Namaz by following all the instructions of the government and pray to Allah to end this deadly disease soon. "Use of sanitizers and masks is compulsory to enter the mosque and people are instructed to sanitize themselves before entering the mosque and after leaving," he added. Shoaib, a local said, "We are using masks, which is compulsory for us to enter the mosque. The people are using sanitizers and maintaining social distance and also following all COVID norms."
A Hyderabad-based magician has been travelling blindfolded to spread awareness among people. The 45-year-old is spreading awareness on Covid-19 norms, plastic-free environment and road safety. Kick-starting 'Bharat Sandesh Yatra', Ram Krishna has travelled to 11 states on his bike. After his halt in Agra, Krishna's upcoming destination is the national capital. “I began the 'Bharat Sandesh Yatra 2021' from Hyderabad's Charminar on March 19. The yatra aims at corona awareness, plastic-free environment and road safety. I came to Agra from Jaipur and now I will be travelling to Delhi,” he said. Ram Krishna's goal through 'Bharat Sandesh Yatra' is to travel 10,000 kms in 30 days.

The Central Government has given permission to Haffkine Institute to produce Bharat Biotech's Covaxin. CM Uddhav Thackeray thanked PM Modi through a tweet by CM office, Maharashtra on April 15, "The Dept of Science and Technology, Government of India, has granted approval to Haffkine Institute to produce Bharat Biotech's Covaxin vaccine on a transfer of technology basis. CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has thanked the Hon'ble PM Shri@narendramodi for approving this request."
Bihar government has geared up and took several steps amid surge in coronavirus cases including converting Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) as a dedicated COVID facility. "We have increased beds in hospitals in view of surge in COVID cases. We have decided to make Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), a dedicated COVID facility. We are also increasing number of beds in PMCH, AIIMS, IGIMS and other medical colleges. Testing has also increased. District Control Units established for assistance to patients," said Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey to ANI.
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan visited All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma centre on April 16 and announced that 70 more beds will be added to Trauma Centre. "We have decided to add 70 more beds at the AIIMS Trauma Centre and 100 more beds at the National Cancer Institute, Jhajjar. I am sure we will be able to overcome the challenges we are facing due to surge in COVID19 cases now," the Minister said. "I have visited COVID wards in the Trauma Centre here with the Director and other doctors and met COVID patients individually. Most of them are in a recovery state. The main motive behind the visit is to check the bed availability and to increase according to the need. There are 266 COVID beds available in AIIMS till date, 253 are occupied with patients," he added.
Health Minister Harsh Vardhan interacted with doctors of AIIMS amid rising Covid cases in the country. AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria and other doctors of the hospital were present during his visit. Harsh Vardhan took stock of the situation at the hospital and spoke to doctors for further preparations. He also told doctors that India even though cases are rising rapidly, India is better placed to handle the surge as we have learnt from the experience of handling the pandemic in 2020. The Health Minister’s visit to AIIMS comes on a day India reported its highest-ever single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with over 2.17 lakh new cases and more than 1,100 deaths in the last 24 hours. Delhi police commissioner SN Shrivastava has warned people over the weekend curfew in the national capital. He said that those who violate the restrictions put in place could even be arrested. Shrivastava said that the Delhi police will enforce the restrictions strictly and added that essential services will be allowed to operate without any hassle.
