Meanwhile, TMC has described the audio clip as 'bogus' and said no such conversation took place. Violence marred a Cooch Behar polling booth during the fourth round of voting on April 10. Four persons died near a booth in Sitalkuchi constituency of Cooch Behar district. Reports suggest central forces opened fire allegedly after coming under attack from locals. Election Commission imposed a 24-hour campaign ban on Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh. The ban has been imposed over his 'there will be Sitalkuchi in several places' remarks. Commission 'sternly' warned Ghosh and advised him to desist from using such statements. Four people died in a firing incident by CISF in Sitalkuchi during the fourth phase of polls. Officials had said the jawans opened fire after they came under attack from locals. The campaign ban on Ghosh will be in effect from 7 pm April 15 to 7 pm April 16. Reacting to EC's order, Ghosh said he will not stage dharna unlike CM Mamata Banerjee. Earlier, Ghosh was also sent notice by EC for his alleged remarks over the Sitalkuchi incident. Poll campaign has seen EC clamping down on several leaders for objectionable utterances. EC earlier barred Mamata from campaigning for 24 hours for remarks against central forces.

While an 18-year-old first time voter was shot dead by miscreants when he was standing in a queue to cast his vote, four others were killed in firing by central forces reportedly in self-defence on the same day.

West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has just lost one of her brothers today to the Corona pandemic. Her brother, Mr Asim Bandhopadhyay who was mostly known as Kali Bandhopadhyay, contracted the virus and was being treated for a month. He was admitted to Kolkata's Medica Superspecialty Hospital.

A 10-member BJP delegation, led by state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh, met the four-member team from Home Ministry at the BSF office in Kolkata. MHA deputed the team to assess the ground situation amid the post-poll violence in West Bengal. Additional Secretary in Home Ministry Govind Mohan, Additional Secretary in Education Ministry Vinit Joshi, Joint Director of Intelligence Bureau Janardan Singh and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) IB, Nalin are among the team. Violence has been reported in several parts of West Bengal after post-poll results.
CRPF recovered a 7-kg improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh. The explosive device was found by troops of CoBRA 206 Battalion. CRPF jawans destroyed the IED planted by Naxals in a controlled explosion. The IED was destroyed in the forest area of Minpa in Sukma district.

CRPF jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas reached his hometown, Jammu on Friday. Rakeshwar was released last week after being abducted by Naxals in Chhattisgarh. The jawan was warmly welcomed by family, friends who put garlands around his neck. “I am very happy that I am meeting my family today. Our soldiers were brave enough to fight back the Naxals,” Rakeshwar said. Rakeshwar was abducted by Naxals during the Sukma-Bijapur encounter on April 3. Rakeshwar, who was part of security force's elite CoBRA unit, was released on April 8. 22 security personnel were killed and 31 others were injured in the fierce gunbattle.
