A small single-engine plane crashed into two homes in Simi Valley’s Wood Ranch area, killing the pilot and igniting a fire that damaged both structures. The blaze, known as the Jones Road Wildfire, led to the evacuation of approximately 5,000 residents and destroyed multiple structures, including a commercial building. Authorities have charged 19-year-old Joseph Kling of Waretown with arson and aggravated arson for allegedly igniting the fire by setting wooden pallets ablaze and leaving them unattended.
