Labour on asylum cases: ‘Not clear what govt is proposing'
Shadow Housing Secretary Lisa Nandy says “it is not at all clear what the government is proposing”, in its bid to cut the soaring backlog of asylum cases.
The Labour MP’s comments come as it’s announced that thousands of asylum seekers will be sent Home Office questionnaires that could be used to decide their claims. Report by Patelr.

A deal to secure the first Universal theme park in Europe has been secured by the Government in the hope it will generate tens of billions of pounds for the economy. Yvette Cooper has said changes to the immigration system are expected to reduce visas by around 100,000 per year. The Home Secretary told the Commons: “The impact of the changes to skilled worker visas, care worker visas, settlements, students and English language is expected to reduce visas by a further around 100,000 a year, and in addition the new workforce strategy’s immigration skills charge, family and asylum reforms will further bring numbers down on top of that.
