A study published in 2022 looked into the behavior of bonobos, chimpanzees, western lowland gorillas and olive baboons and found that the animals changed their habits in a myriad of different ways.
The researchers took a genuine interest in whether visitor interactions were an asset or hindrance to the welfare of zoo animals.
