Report Says F-35 Fighter Jet Program Suffering From Ongoing Maintenance Delays
Report Says F-35 , Fighter Jet Program Suffering , From Ongoing Maintenance Delays.
On September 21, a government watchdog report detailed
ongoing maintenance delays which suggest that F-35
fighter jets are only "mission capable" 55% of the time.
NBC reports that the news comes
just days after a $100 million F-35B
crashed in rural South Carolina.
If the aircraft can only perform
55% of the time and the goal is
85 to 90% of the time, taxpayers
are not getting their money’s worth, Diana Maurer, Government Accountability Office, via NBC .
The Pentagon's F-35 program,
run by military contractor Lockheed Martin,
has cost taxpayers a total of $1.7 trillion.
The Pentagon's F-35 program,
run by military contractor Lockheed Martin,
has cost taxpayers a total of $1.7 trillion.
According to the Government Accountability Office
(GAO) report, $1.3 trillion of that total has been spent
on maintaining and operating the fighter jets.
The report notes that the contractor-led
approach to maintaining F-35s
has caused major delays.
One example cited in the report details how military
maintenance staff are unable to look up part numbers
because the F-35's database is controlled by Lockheed.
Not having ready access to part
numbers hinders the repair of the
aircraft because it delays the
ordering and receipt of needed parts, Diana Maurer, Government Accountability Office, via NBC .
According to the report, over 10,000 F-35
components are still in need of repair.
NBC reports that the GAO report was ordered
by Congress as part of last year's defense bill.

With key contractors like General Atomics, Lockheed Martin, and RTX involved, this agreement is set to reshape the military balance in the Gulf. U.S. officials call it a critical step toward strengthening regional security and counterterrorism operations. What does this mean for the Middle East—and America's evolving military alliances?

During an Oval Office meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Donald Trump lashed out at NBC’s Peter Alexander over a question about a $400 million private jet gifted by Qatar. Instead, Trump redirected the conversation to what he claimed was the “genocide” of white South African farmers, presenting a controversial video and accusing Alexander of ignoring white suffering. The tense moment highlighted Trump’s continued push on racially charged narratives, refugee decisions, and diplomatic theatrics involving U.S. allies and global perception.

The US is reportedly considering relocating up to one million Palestinians from Gaza to Libya, NBC reported, citing sources. In return, Washington may unfreeze $30 billion in Libyan funds. The plan has sparked outrage, with critics calling it a violation of international law and Palestinian rights. Libya remains unstable with rival governments vying for power. The Trump administration has denied the claim, calling it “untrue.” Discussions allegedly included Israeli and Libyan leadership, but no final deal has been reached. Human rights groups have condemned the potential displacement.

The Pentagon has confirmed it is conducting a “capability review” to reassess whether military aid to Ukraine aligns with America’s shifting defense priorities. Chief spokesperson Sean Parnell said the U.S. is taking a hard look at promised weapons deliveries — some of which are now halted — to ensure national interests come first. The move follows the White House’s decision to stop key shipments of air defense ammunition, artillery shells, and missiles previously pledged under the Biden administration.
With President Trump’s “America First” policy reshaping foreign aid strategy, the Pentagon appears to be pivoting away from prolonged foreign entanglements. Ukrainian officials have slammed the halt as betrayal, warning it weakens their resistance against Russia’s advances. Meanwhile, analysts say this could signal a major realignment in U.S. global commitments — and a boost for Russian military strategy. Is Washington walking away from Kyiv?

In a fiery Pentagon briefing, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth lashed out at the media, accusing them of "cheering against Trump" and downplaying the success of Operation Midnight Hammer — a bold series of U.S. airstrikes targeting Iran's nuclear sites. Hegseth defended the mission’s results, slammed leaks of low-confidence intelligence reports, and praised the courage of American pilots and defense crews. With tensions high and politics in play, the Secretary warned that biased reporting could overshadow what he called a “historic” blow to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

The Pentagon revealed that every weapon deployed in the recent U.S. strike on Iran had a pre-assigned target — and none missed. Officials emphasized the unprecedented precision of the operation, which focused on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and command hubs. The statement underscores the effectiveness of American airpower, particularly the deployment of GBU-57 bunker busters, and suggests a major degradation of Iran’s strategic capabilities.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Trump administration, allowing it to end the Biden-era humanitarian parole program that granted temporary legal status to migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. The decision potentially paves the way for the deportation of over 500,000 migrants. Liberal justices, including Jackson and Sotomayor, dissented, citing the ruling’s human cost. The case highlights the ongoing legal battle over immigration authority and could influence future policies, including birthright citizenship.
