Belgium joins the ranks of Australia, France, Canada and the UK, all who have pledged to recognise a Palestinian state at the UNGA next week in a bid to ramp up pressure on the Israeli government to end the war in Gaza and alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The Yemeni Houthis have confirmed their first military operation in the northern Red Sea, striking the Israeli oil tanker Scarlet Ray with a ballistic missile near Yanbu. Maritime security firm Dryad Global verified the hit, marking a major escalation in the conflict. Once considered a low-risk route, the northern Red Sea is now reclassified as high-risk amid expanding Houthi operations.
