Assistant Chief Constable Matt Boyle of Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that Alex Batty has returned to the UK, having gone missing six years ago while on holiday in Spain with his mother and grandfather.
The teenager who is now 17 met a family member at Toulouse airport earlier on Saturday before flying back to the UK.
The Police are yet to take a statement from him and are still to establish whether a criminal investigation into his disappearance will be opened.

A Moroccan asylum seeker has been sentenced to life in jail for murder, with a minimum term of 45 years, at Teesside Crown Court. In October last year, 45-year-old Ahmed Alid stabbed Iranian Christian convert Javed Nouri at the house he was sharing with other asylum seekers before looking for more victims in Hartlepool town centre.
