On Monday, Chief Minister Champai Soren of Jharkhand successfully secured victory in the assembly floor test, garnering support from a total of 47 coalition MLAs during the trust vote.
In contrast, the Opposition received 29 votes.
Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan officially announced Champai Soren's triumph, prompting enthusiastic cheers within the Jharkhand assembly.
Following the announcement, the House adjourned for the day and is scheduled to reconvene on Tuesday.

In a landmark decision, a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court ruled that lawmakers, comprising both Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), can be prosecuted under the Prevention of Corruption Act if they accept monetary gains in exchange for their votes or speeches in Parliament or state assemblies. This ruling overturns the previous 1998 judgement of the apex court in the PV Narasimha Rao case.
