In an unusual event for the east coast of the United States, New York experienced a rare earthquake measuring 4.7 magnitude, as reported by the US Geological Survey (USGS) on Friday (Apr 5).
The quake, striking in the morning around 10:23 am (local time), caused buildings to shake, instigating panic among residents.
This occurrence was particularly alarming as New York City is not typically considered an earthquake-prone area.
